August update: I decided to widen the options for commissions. Mainly because I wouldn’t want to limit people to hire my skills in whatever way they’d like. That should keep things more interesting and varied for me, and help my skills grow. So even though this page below is built for Pet Portraits, you can select other options in the “What is your subject” question, and specify in the “Anything else you’d like to add” section before we discuss details.

Reference photos and discussion
After I replied to your submission, you’ll send several photos of the subject, including at least one high-quality, well-lit shot. Good shadows matter just as much as highlights. Board colour, composition, shipping/collection and all details are agreed before anything begins.
50% deposit secures your spot
Once all details are agreed, a 50% non-refundable deposit reserves your place in the queue and covers materials. The remaining balance is due upon completion.
Work begins
Work begins according to your position in the queue, which we agree on during the initial discussion. You can choose to receive work-in-progress updates, or opt for a full reveal at the end — entirely your preference.
Final reveal and balance
The finished piece is photographed and shared with you (if you opted for it). The remaining balance is paid before the artwork is released.
Shipping or collection
Each piece is covered with glassine paper and wrapped in bubble wrap, boxed with appropriate cushioning, and marked fragile. Shipping is paid by the buyer and included in the final price, agreed during the initial discussion. Collection is also welcome.
Important information
No revisions once work begins
Due to the nature of dry pastel, changes mid-piece are not possible. This is why every detail is fully agreed before work starts — please take your time at the discussion stage.
Framing recommendation
Dry pastel on Pastelmat does not require fixative spray, preserving the full vibrancy of the pigments. It is strongly recommended to frame under glass with a spacer or mount, ensuring the glass never touches the surface.
Turnaround time
I hold a full-time job, so turnaround ranges from a few days to a couple of months depending on size, complexity, and queue. Priority turnaround is available for an additional fee — mention it when enquiring.
Payment
Bank transfer and PayPal Goods & Services accepted. Cash is welcome for in-person collection — full payment must be received before the piece changes hands. Work does not begin until the deposit clears.
Availability of materials
Please note that specific board colours and sizes are subject to supplier stock. If your preferred combination is currently unavailable, suitable alternatives will be discussed and agreed upon before your commission begins.
FAQ
Can I commission things other than pet portraits?
Absolutely! I’m down for challenges or interesting projects, and that helps with creativity and skill-growing. Just select “Other” in the first question, and write your idea in the Comment section at the bottom, and we will discuss.
Can I choose the board colour?
Yes — a full colour list is shown below. If you’re unsure, I can suggest a colour based on your subject, intended frame, and where the piece will be displayed.
What photos do I need to send?
Several photos are ideal to build a clear mental picture. At least one should be high quality and well-lit — good shadows are just as important as highlights. The better the reference, the better the result. Still, I can work with one low quality photo if that’s all that’s available.
Can I request changes once work has started?
Due to the nature of dry pastel on Pastelmat, revisions mid-piece are not possible. All details are carefully agreed before anything begins, so please be thorough at the discussion stage.
Can I see the piece as it’s being made?
Yes, if you’d like. Work-in-progress photos and videos can be shared throughout the process. Alternatively, you can opt for a full reveal when it’s finished — entirely your choice.

Do I need to get it framed?
Framing is not included, but strongly recommended. Frame it under glass with a spacer or mount to ensure the glass does not touch the pastel surface — this protects the pigments long-term. No fixative spray is used, so the colours stay fully vibrant.
