Welcome
First month of the site…
Well, first 22 days, but it’s the last day of the month so I keep it aligned.
I created a fully functional Commission page with all relevant information and with a form to fill out that helps cutting back on a lot of back and forth. Added a Captcha against spams. Had to create Privacy Policy and Terms of Condition page. Had to troubleshoot a TON overall. Added Cookies pop-up (I know, I wish I wouldn’t have to). Created a gallery in the Portfolio page. Updated the Art page with most recent work and worked out how I’d like to align it so I can add snippets of Notes for anyone interested (again a lot of learning to make sure they align both on mobile view and desktop, since that is not a “gallery” type block). Created an About page as all sites have those, especially artists. It’s still missing a photo though.
So mainly it was a lot of legalities at this stage to make it professional and legitimate, and to have a working, visitable, minimal site.
All in all, I enjoyed building it, and it is satisfying to see it grow. I can’t imagine how much back and forth it would have been if I let someone else build it, or how much it would cost. This way I can always change anything to the tiniest things if I don’t like something, and I wouldn’t bother the designer with it, and I’m learning new things. Shout out to the age of AI. They helped answering dozens of my questions, troubleshooting, and even some coding. I don’t think I would have the patience to find out everything on my own, or to wait for support’s answers.
Even though the site is live, I have not yet shared it with anyone. It is ready for it if the opportunity comes for a potential client, but I’m happy to build it up with a bit more content before start spreading it more heavily.
I’d like to create and print a business card as well, which is easier to pass on than spelling my name out.
Next steps will be uploading more of my art, maybe create the beginnings page from my earlier years, and create a Library page to start uploading book content which I’m fond of.
These would keep me busy for next month, especially that I will be back to work and won’t have as much time, I might not be able to progress much. There are still a lot of ideas after that.
It is exciting, happy work though; expanding my self-actualisation, which is the top section of Maslow’s pyramid.
Once I got the structures built, it should be just uploading and refining from then on.
I’m going away for 4 days now but can’t wait to continue. (Some RSPB sites visits with my partner, which I’m sure will fruit a few splendid nature/bird photographs)

A long time coming…

A site that I first thought of almost 20 years ago has finally been born. I could say life got in the way, but that would most definitely be an excuse. My focus was all over the place, ever changing, ever shifting priorities. Perhaps I’ll get into this more in a blog post at some point…
Let’s hope the next 20 years include more self-expression, and more focused at that.
Here I will showcase my artwork, the books I have written, short stories, the history, inspiration and thought processes behind them, a photography tab, a blog, a shop, and who knows what else.
The short time priority now is to showcase my portfolio and create a safe space for clients to reach out for commissions.
I don’t really like today’s trendy sites and botched-up AI sites, and paying someone to create your space would certainly mean a lot of back and forth, so I have taken matters into my own hands, to make it exactly the way I would be happy with it. Since I have no prior experience in website building, it might take a little while. Four years of everything for this site is already prepaid, so let’s see what I can create. 🙂
This place is my priority and main (art)project now.
Watch it grow…
