Here you can see my pastel art, which I started experimenting with in early 2025. After a couple of test-runs with different quality papers and pencils, I invested in the best quality tools to see how well I could harvest its potential.
My first serious test was this smaller piece of the dressed-up doggy. After completing it, I felt like I had discovered something divine. The level of control and no-fuss approach that dry pastel pencil allows is exactly what I needed in my art. Furthermore, the sound and feel of the pencil making strokes on the hard paper are like little dopamine bubbles bursting in my mind. It relaxes, satisfies, and allows me to slip into a perfect flow state (though this usually happens with all forms of art creation).
The second piece was the cat next to it. Again, I put a lot of care into that piece, to test the boundaries of what pastel allows – mainly how realistic I could push it. It turned out very satisfying. A few more practice pieces followed before I started getting commissions.
The last one is my latest – and largest so far – piece, which I had the honor of creating for a commission, completed in May 2026.
I’d like to test pastels on landscape art and maybe plants and flowers, but it’s not a priority at the moment.
